Present Laughter unfolds over the course of two weeks in the life of Garry Essendine, a popular stage actor preparing to embark on a touring production in Africa – unless his impending mid-life crisis and habit of getting entangled with admirers manage to tie him up at home indefinitely! Luckily for Garry, his whip-smart secretary, doting valet, and sarcastic-yet-patient ex-wife are there to take matters in hand.
Like in any great farce, Present Laughter has plenty of doors, multiple misunderstandings, and sidesplitting wordplay delivered as only the great Noel Coward can.
For this season’s comedy special, PTP’s Radio Cavalcade presents episodes from “Our Miss Brooks” and “My Friend Irma”.
“Our Miss Brooks” - Miss Brooks is an English teacher who has a low paying job, a lousy boss, a crush on a fellow teacher, and whose student drives her to school.
“My Friend Irma” - A dizzy blonde and her level-headed roommate have man trouble when the former's beau begins promoting a would-be singer.
PTP’s Radio Cavalcade series are one night only, staged readings of classic radio plays complete with live music and sound effects. This event is fun for the whole family.
